Felt like I was staying in a hotel not a hostel. The free wine tasting was fun and met some great people. Not far from the Ruins bars.

I went on my first ever solo trip and this hostel was accommodating to boot. The staff were friendly and helpful by all manners. I inquired about traditional Hungarian food and they were immediately telling me of places to go! This was an amazing place to stay and I highly recommend

This hostel was great, very clean and comfortable. The sleeping area was very dark inside the pods, almost no light got in. I would definitely stay here again. Staff were helpful. There is a bus stop directly outside of the hostel which can take you anywhere in the city. There is also a metro (M2 i think) line one block away. Breakfast looked good, there, although I didn't have time to eat it. They also have a commissary area where you can purchase drinks, snacks, and flip flops for the bath houses in the City. A note about the location: I think overall the location was quite good. The hostel is located in a busy area with a LIDL grocery store next door. The immediate neighborhood area felt a little dirty/sketchy, but that is not a reflection of the hostel -- it's just a classic big city. That said, asmentioned, I would definitely stay here again in future.

Clean room and amazing staf very helpful

More of a hostel than a hotel. Paid £2500 because of champions league for a tiny room next to the bar so when you open your window curtain there were people playing pool and having a drink with music right outside. No room service, threadbare towels, no wardrobe, sheets too small for bed, towel rail not working, double lock on door broken, breakfast not included. I have just been ripped off. Expedia were just as bad with their terrible customer service. Do not recommend hotel or Expedia

I was surprised at how nice Maverick Atheneum was, the facilities are very clean and modern. The shared dorms are spacious and offer plenty of privacy. Be aware that the price of the breakfast has actually gone up & this hasn’t been changed online so you’ll need to pay the difference when you arrive. Great location close to the train station & a 20 minute walk to the Danube

The room was clean, the amenities were good, including the air conditioning. However, because we paid surge pricing 20 times the usual nightly fee because of the Champions League Final, I would expect the hotel might try a little harder. For instance, we did not know about the tourist tax until we checked in, also, breakfast not included! Do not expect coffee/tea in your room, let alone a paper cup! Buyer beware, I guess.

It's like a frat house for European incels. They're not really interested in any cultural activity that doesn't include alcohol. The place gets trashed every night and the cleaning staff does a stellar job every morning. There's only two toilets and two showers for about 100 guests on the first floor, near the kitchen. The area is a bit "methy" and the bar downstairs plays Dolly Parton covers at 11 volume until 10pm on the weekends. A grocery store is a few doors down and the 100E airport bus is about 15 minuet walk at the Astoria station. I stayed four nights, the beds are comfortable and clean and the soundproofing works well until the music starts. Don't look for 'community' here.

The staff at reception was very friendly. As for the room itself, the bed was comfortable. However, there was a bad smell in the bathroom that never seem to disappear even when extractor fan is left on. It was nauseating everytime i stepped into the bathroom. I could hear the pipes the whole night from the room (probably from people flusing upstairs). Also, there wasn't any bath shampoo (either finished or not working).
