松本ホテル花月 (Matsumoto Hotel Kagetsu)

The room was dated, but impeccably clean. The staff was courteous and polite. I would repeat my stay, in particular because of the distance to the castle and local shopping.

Hotel is a 5 to 10 minute walk to Matsumoto Castle and a 15 minute walk to Matsumoto train station. My partner and I stayed here for 5 nights. This is a large western style hotel that receives many tour groups. 1-2 buses were hogging the entrance 4 of the 5 nights. Other than that, it never felt crowded. The women's barh was good, and it appears to ration entry with a card. I never had to wait, bathing 9-10pm. Breakfast was buffet and offerws some western breakfast options. A point off for claiming to have laundry facility but restricting hours to 9am to 8pm- it was usless to us. Staff exceptional, providing us with useful map of the northern alps and quickly dealing with noisy neighbors. We used this hotel as our base for exploring the alps and Takayama. The drivers were longer than ideal but very scenic.

Great staff! Friendly and very helpful. Food (in the restaurant) was awesome! The “Western” style dinner in particular … i know you’re in Japan, but the chef is great… ya gotta try while you’re there. Castle is nice. Not a lot to do in Matsumoto, but walkable. Location of Hotel is good (bread place around the corner and castle is vey close). Note: the hotel itself is not new, but it is clean.

Great location, within walking distance to the castle and train station (because of luggage, we took a cab to the hotel). We stayed in a Japanese-style room which was spacious and comfortable for three of us. The staff was very nice and the breakfast solid. I would highly recommend this property.

The hotel feels dated and the room and bed is small although it’s a double bed. Not so comfortable to sleep 2 adults.

Excellent experience

Great stay, nice hotel in terrific location near the castle and many restaurants. We had an issue with staff not understanding how to measure our ski bag properly for shipping and had to take it to Yamato ourselves.

Nice hotel we used the Japanese style room with futon and in room shower. My GF had her period so it was good she didn’t need to use the onsen. Room was nice and big and very close to Matsumoto castle. Only thing I was disappointed was parking fee. It’s far from tokyo so I assume many would drive if not train so I was surprised to charged extra for the overnight parking.

Clean room, excellent staff, large room, high end amenities, great location to visit Matsumoto castle.
