Nice area. Clean and spacious room

The hotel has air conditioning and clean

We loved this place! We usually go for the familiar names but were so glad we stayed here: lovely, modern rooms, delightful staff, fab location and cool bonus of the actual Roman villa in the lobby. When we return we’ll be back!

I am comparing to US staff. I tried to be nice and appreciative to being elsewhere. The 2x I called prior to checking in were ignored by this hotel. Upon checking in, I sat back and watched extremely slow staff deal with people. The actual location is good. If you have an extra day for workers to work - fantastic.

The Aurea Hotel is a beautiful, well-maintained property with attentive and responsive staff. Overall, I had a wonderful stay. The only minor challenge was the language barrier. While it’s understandable that Portuguese is the primary language in Portugal, more English-speaking staff would be helpful since the hotel welcomes many international visitors. The biggest issue was that our room had a persistent sewer odor that lasted throughout our stay. It seemed isolated to our room, as other areas of the hotel did not have the same smell. We requested housekeeping, but unfortunately it didn’t resolve the issue. The staff kindly provided fragrance sprays, which we appreciated, but they only temporarily masked the odor. The hotel arranged airport transportation for both our arrival and departure, which was very convenient. The food was excellent, and every meal we had was enjoyable. My favorite part of the stay was the spa. The massage was amazing, and I loved the sauna and steam room. The gym was also well equipped, allowing me to keep up with my workouts. If the room odor had been resolved, this would have easily been a 5-star stay.

Excellent location, superb breakfast!

Clean room. Comfortable bed. Breakfast is $25 per person but it is absolutely great and worth eating there to start the day. Location is good and easy access to neighborhoods surrounding it. Gym could use a few more free weights and disinfectant wipes to clean equipment but overall you can get a good workout. It was a little hot in the gym despite asking them to lower temperature. Check out was at noon which gave us a little more time in the morning. We had a terrace in our room but it was difficult to use bc it had only 2 chairs and no table. Would definitely go back.
