Wonderful heritage hotel in central Machester, great location with nearby parking. Great breakfast options - was a busy sitting so we didn't realise there was a specialist egg chef available, but great selection of buffet hot and cold breakfast food & drink. Really lovely friendly helpful staff.

The hotel was amazing, had spa facilities but was not told to book beforehand so when we checked in at 3pm the spa was not available which was disappointing as we travelled a long way and wanted to use the spa

I requested a room for disability..following a hip operation and bone fracture..However it was not suitable as I was on crutches
1. The bed was so high it was extremely difficult to get on to..it was only after many attempts and much pain that I finally achieved this (I think this would be nigh impossible for a wheelchair user)
My daughter spoke to reception and they immediately phoned me and told me all the beds in the hotel were the same hight but would try an external solution..when I returned to my room in the evening I found a small step stool next to the bed…this was of no help as I couldn’t stand on it to reach the bed.
2. It was impossible for me to open or close the curtains as there was a desk in front of one set and they were too high and heavy to draw back..my daughter who is much taller and stronger than still had difficulties with the set behind the desk.
3. Although the bathroom was fitted very well for a disabled person there was absolutely no free shelf or place to put a wash bag or toothbrush..the wash basin was so small I couldn’t even stand my toothbrush or soap on it.
On the positive side the hotel is very beautiful and worthy of a 5* rating…just not suitable for anyone who is disabled
