Having previous booked a twin room and paid for 1 night June 18th ,.We arrived about 3.30 to find the hotel Bailbrook Lodge Bath completely inaccessable in spite of knocking ,ringing etc we went to the adjacent Bailbrook Hotel who (athough unconnected to BailbrookLodge) very kindly tried to contact the manager of BailbookLodge Absolutely no response . we therefore had to stay in another hotel for the night .I tried an email to Bailbrook lodge today address as advertised on their webstite and a phone call . Both came back as unobtainable .This hotel has a serious problem which I hope you will follow up. I paid £124 in advance and at the very least would expect my money back. Thankyou. A great place with wonderful history but the property needs some sprucing up

Room was really old - but that was expected. We stil slept really well. No hot water.

The whole place is neglected, I chose it because it looked charming and had character, wish I had read reviews on trip advisor first. No kerb appeal and looks like a building site, nothing like photos. Small shabby room, peeling wall paper, sun bleached pictures on walls, evidence of water damage on walls, flaking paintwork, three bulbs missing in bathroom lights. The room had a slip bath, so couldn’t have a proper shower, which coped with for one night. Very uncomfortable bed, saggy mattress. Neglected back garden area. Breakfast ok, but where do you get given toast with nothing but butter to spread on it?! Manager was very helpful and hospitable, seems to be doing the best he can in this run down old place, which with a bit of money and TLC could be very nice. Warning bit far to walk to city, if no car will need bus or taxi. We stayed on a Friday night and wouldn’t have called it cheap £138 without breakfast. We stay in Bath often and know this did not present good value, don’t think I will be venturing outside the trusted box next time.

The property is extremely old and needs a proper renovation in my opinion - carpet is dirty with some stains, the bathroom tub has visible mold, and there was a constant water dripping noise from the toilet all night. Windows are damaged with broken glass and could not be securely locked, which we felt unsafe. Heating didn’t work properly, making it freezing in the morning. The beds are very soft, but compared to other things this is not a big issue. There was no front desk or staff available, so we couldn’t report issues or request a room change. We arrived late in the evening with kids, there was no way that we could find an alternative that day, hence decided to stay anyway. Not recommended!

They cancelled it a week before the stay. No reason, no apology. Very poor.

I’d never stay here again, nor recommend it to others. Disappointing on almost every level. Complicated check-in where a code is supposed to be sent to your phone, doesn’t arrive and you end up having to phone an out of hours number. Grubby public areas and staircase. Pokey room with furniture stuffed into it. Dirty carpet. Noisy toilet. Tricky shower. Shampoo in a foil sachet like ketchup for your chips.

Dirty shower. Tired furniture. Uncomfortable bed. Just an old place, not worth what they're charging, by far not worth it. Even down to the little sachets of shampoo. Like ketchup. Can you not just get a bottle?

We were looking for an old English character house/hotel and found it here. We loved our short stay. Clean, quiet, delicious English style breakfast, affordable room. Slept soundly. It’s roughly a 200 year old house, so expect a few rough corners. It was exactly what we wanted. Key pad self check in had me double thinking our stay but it worked flawlessly

Lovely location in Bath, and the staff lady there was really friendly and helpful. I was put into a room with the biggest four poster bed I've ever had and slept quite well. Breakfast was lovely. I do have some things to note though that they could improve upon. Parts of the room were quite tired with wallpaper coming off the wall in places, and the lampshade above the four poster was a veritable graveyard for flies which was a bit gross. Two of the electric sockets didn't work in the room either. That said, I did enjoy my stay there and it was excellent for the price. With a bit of TLC on the property, this place would be exceptional.
