This resort went way above and beyond our expectations. The staff was very friendly and helpful, making us feel very comfortable when explaining how things worked. The buffet, lounge, and free drinks and snacks were wonderful. And the facilities are very clean and very well maintained. The different onsens all have different characteristics and they're all very charming and relaxing 😊 Definitely would recommend to anyone looking for a luxurious relaxing stay!

First, the pictures on expedia or even the hotels website did not do this place justice. This is a gorgeous hotel with lots to do and see. We were checked in by "Lucky" who spoke really great english. He spent about an hour with us checking us in, walking us to our rooms, showing us everything in our rooms and helping with luggage. Both the dinner and breakfast were buffet with lots of options. I think we were the only foreigners there but they did not treat us any different. The shuttle down to the town square is very convenient. We did not use the hot springs but we did use the open air bath in our room which was amazing. The beds were reasonable comfortable. Enjoyed the plethora of amenities and open space in the room.

Great stay. I booked a room with open air bath and it came with the access to the executive lounge for afternoon snacks and drinks. Snacks, beers and wine. The snacks there was amazing. Coz I booked two consecutive nites, they gave us access to the exclusive public bath, less ppl and with more privacy. The room was so clean and the staff were excellent. I was impressed by a staff Jaing, she was so helpful and always so enthusiastic and ready to help all the time when I saw her at the reception - check in and check out and when she was working at the executive lounge. The cleaning team was doing an excellent job. All of these made my stay so wonderful.

Friendly staff, clean room, nice view

We really enjoyed our stay at Hotel Sakurai. We booked the top floor suites, which came with several extra benefits. The room was very large and well laid out, with a kitchen, a bathroom with a jacuzzi and stunning view, two bedrooms, and a living area. We were taken straight to our room by a concierge when we checked in, which was a nice touch. The view was excellent — you could see the town centre from the room. We also had access to the Sakura Lounge, where food and drinks were included, and a more private onsen that was limited to a small number of guests. The hotel prepared a special dinner for special guests in a separate restaurant, using best quality ingredients. The food and service were both excellent. One thing to note is that the hotel is very large, so there are no private hot spring baths. This wasn’t an issue for us, but worth mentioning. The main onsen facilities are very good, especially the outdoor baths, which we would highly recommend. Thank you again for the staff at Sakurai.

The wear and tear is kind of showing throughout the establishment but it was nice overall. I was a little underwhelmed with the dinner buffet but the breakfast buffet was fantastic. I felt like I could’ve eaten something nicer down in the Yubataki area. Also the shower in the room barely had hot water. But the showers in the onsen area were perfect.

We had a pleasant stay, largely thanks to the excellent onsen facilities. The room was standard and met our needs, though the dining experience varied. We found the dinner buffet to be average in terms of quality and variety, whereas the breakfast was a step up and much more satisfying.

Very clean and spacious room, staff very polite, buffet was great for morning and evening and the lounge was very nice.
