We were in Basel during the early European heat wave and the Hotel Spalentor has A/C!! After 4 nights in other Swiss hotels without A/C (and horrifyingly without fans) the Spalentor was the utmost luxury! Not to diminish the hotel itself - it is extremely clean and well located near the square, bus routes and various restaurants. The room itself was spacious with a small fridge and firm king sized bed. Excellence!!

This is a charming hotel, well kept, and friendly staff. The rooms are nice and beds are comfortable. Breakfast was served in a nice space on the top floor, and it was excellent. The hotel is conveniently located to public transportation making it easy to explore the city. We would stay here again.

The property front desk was extremely helpful with concierge questions. They booked a restaurant for our group of 8, that was very good.
Minor complaint which I find is the same for several euro hotels is the tub shower combo. The tub surround sits way higher than the actual tub itself, easy tripping hazard while exiting. Also the half glass door only covers part of the shower. Lots of water on the floor. And the tub/shower does NOT have non slip decals. I had to use an extra towel on the tub floor.
But really too much about the bathroom, the property was amazing!!! I would highly recommend!
