The hotel's exterior is stunning, and the property has a great deal of historic charm. However, there were several aspects of our stay that fell short of what we would expect from a five-star hotel.
The water pressure in the bathroom was very low, making showering difficult. Given the number of guests, the front desk was also slow to respond to requests. During housekeeping service, our towels were not replaced, and the property can be quite noisy, with hallway noise easily heard from inside the room.
I understand that this is a historic building, which can make certain upgrades more challenging. However, considering the price of the room, we expected better water pressure and more attentive housekeeping service. Edinburgh is an extremely busy tourist destination, so I recognize that accommodating the high volume of guests can be difficult. That said, the hotel may want to consider adjusting staffing levels to better match demand.
