Our stay at Lake Toya Nonokaze Resort was absolutely amazing and one of the highlights of our entire trip to Japan. My boys still talk about how much they loved this hotel and everything there was to experience around Lake Toya.
The rooms were very large and comfortable, and having a private onsen right in our room overlooking the lake was unforgettable. The views were spectacular, and watching the fireworks show over the lake every night made each evening feel special.
The breakfasts and dinners were some of our best memories from the entire stay. The variety and quality of the food were incredible, with different stations preparing fresh dishes right in front of you. From freshly made Japanese souffle pancakes and noodles to local specialties and fresh apple juice, every meal felt like an experience rather than just a hotel buffet. My boys absolutely loved it, and we looked forward to breakfast and dinner every day.
There is also so much to experience around the lake. The hotel has E-bikes available, which are a fantastic way to explore the beautiful paths, scenery, artwork, and sculptures surrounding Lake Toya. We took a boat ride across the lake to the island, rode the gondola up Mt. Usu, and hiked while enjoying incredible views of the volcano and surrounding landscape. We also loved discovering the hot springs throughout the town.
My family said it was absolutely amazing, and I completely agree. We would return without hesitation.
