We had a wonderful stay in the Rasa Wing for 5 nights in May 2026. The suite was spacious with a balcony overlooking the gardens/sea. The hotel is spotless and the staff are so friendly and helpful. It was my husband's birthday and they sent a delicious chocolate cake to the room and decorated our room with towel origami which was a delight. We had a Nespresso machine and bottled water delivered daily. The breakfast had a great buffet selection and menu to choose from. Breakfast felt relaxed. We enjoyed the afternoon tea from 3-4pm once and it was delicious, not too much food. We also enjoyed the drinks and food in the bar from 5:30-7pm a few times and the quality of food and drinks was exceptional. I used the spa and had a lovely facial and felt so relaxed afterwards. The pool area was relaxing. The concierge was very helpful with recommendations and there is a free shuttle bus into Georgetown. We ate at the Pinang bar and restaurant twice and had cocktails during sunset one evening. The food and service were excellent. This is a really lovely hotel and the grounds are beautiful and well cared for. Although the decor is a little dated in comparison to more modern hotels, it doesn't take anything away from the overall experience. I would highly recommend staying here and would return. In Batu Ferringhi we ate in Ferringhi Garden and Grand Lebanon and had delicious food in both. A big thanks to all the staff who made our stay so enjoyable :-)

Loved our stay. Rasa Sayang was as amazing as ever. Sad that the beach is gone.

The rooms are very old and definitely require renovation. We were unable to sleep comfortably due to the noisy operation of the air conditioning. The smell of dampness in the hotel corridors was unpleasant. It is quite poor that a hotel in this segment still lacks a coffee machine; if you wish to have coffee, you are obliged to heat water in a kettle and prepare your drink using small packets of instant coffee. The staff are generally friendly and attentive. The breakfast is quite good, with options suitable for everyone. If you plan to visit Georgetown city center, you should factor in a car journey of approximately 40 minutes.

Outdoor pool was good but many kids were jumping in to adult area pool and making lot of noise and splash. To order food in pool area took very long so we asked and system was not working properly as told. One staff mentioned we could go in to the pool with beverages but another one asked us to get out with the beverages as it was not allowed according to the rules so it was confusing to whom to follow.

We enjoyed our second stay at this resort. The staff were friendly and helpful! We enjoyed the two pools. Room was clean, and comfortable.. We will be back to this Shangri-La hotel in November..

A beautiful hotel which is immaculately maintained. The gardens are right on the coast, but there is no beach access directly from the hotel. We stayed in the Rasa wing which included free soft drinks by the pool, daily afternoon tea and cocktails and canapés each evening. There were several dining options within the hotel, with many other choices available just a short walk away. Staff are friendly and extremely helpful. We would thoroughly recommend for a relaxing stay.

The staff were amazing. My only critcisim is that the Rasa upgrade didnt meet my expectation. My room faced the carpark and the private breakfast didnt hit the mark as the food options are limited. The afternoon tea and drinks the food again is a let down. There are so many options around and in my opinion could be better!

Our arrival was good given top floor level 8 so fair to good views of the sea ( paid for extra when booking the ticket price) The hotel is ‘mature’ lets say. Seasoned not old.. it requires some updating but not to lose its heritage feel. Rooms smaller than expected but has most modern features you need. Perhaps a duplicate of usb or c-2-c ports beside both sides of the bed would be useful for couples having similar technology that requires charging! Food was good - we chose b&b as local food is great, fresh & cheap too so saved lots of ringgits! All staff pleasant friendly & professional and happy to help. Pool is small and family friendly no shouty children thank goodness but small families enjoying the precious quality time spent together in sunshine & luxury. Grab taxis were a blessing and cheap enough to get you where you need to be so used them daily. Recommend using @GetYourGuide tour with G-Shen for the Penang Hill tour - worth every penny & learned so much from him! We stayed 8 days and loved everyday even the exhilarating lightning storms across the sea in front of our balcony! They were alternating evenings after sunset in April. Shangri la hotels are good.. would like to experience all their hotels around the world eventually! *if they’re reading!!😀
