Great customer service, large comfortable room, excellent breakfast and in a great location

Appreciate that it is central Edinburgh, but the price did not reflect what we got in return. Well kept rooms but the price tag didn’t meet the delivery.

Clean room, comfortable bed, lots of space

On arrival, the receptionist immediately required photo ID, took a copy of it, and needed a £100 deposit against any damage I might cause. This approach is not welcoming and friendly, but rather officious and distrustful. As a UK citizen using public transport, I did not have passport or driving licence with me. If I had not had a bus pass, I got the impression that I would have been given a room. Given that I had paid £180 for a one night stay, the deposit against damages seemed unnecessary. Not a good first impression, though the lady on duty handled it politely. The hotel was very well presented, my room comfortably furnished, breakfast was good and staff were generally friendly and helpful. I was very grateful for help carrying my suitcase up and downstairs: essential as my room was on the top floor and there is no lift.

Everything about this hotel was perfect: the central location, the beautiful historic building, the friendly staff and the really comfortable room. Oh, and the view was the BEST too! Thank you for a great stay, only wish it could’ve been longer!

Fantastic place - clean - great location and super staff.

Great Scottish breakfast - wth haggis, black pudding and runny poached egg - tick. Staff great - most engaging. Impressively clean premises. Decor gorgeous. All new & revamped last Aug - pristine. Excellent choice of stay over/venue.

“Overall, we had a good stay and the hotel was in a great location for exploring Edinburgh. Considering the area, the price was reasonable and the staff were excellent throughout our visit, very friendly, welcoming and helpful. The main downside was the room temperature. It was a very hot day and unfortunately the room became extremely warm and uncomfortable during the night. A fan was provided, but it was not powerful enough to properly cool the room, which made sleeping difficult. There is also no parking available, although that is understandable given the central location in Edinburgh. Despite the heat issue, the stay itself was pleasant and the customer service from staff really stood out positively.”
