Beautiful place and owner is amazing person

Excellent hosting offering educated details of the region. Attention to detail. An exclusive place to unwind.

This was an absolutely fantastic place to stay. What a gem! Sue Ellen could not have been more welcoming - even making a dinner reservation for us and updating the restaurant because we were running late. Rimu Lodge is delightful. The rooms are large, contemporary yet cosy, beautifully decorated and with lots of little touches such as a turn down service, exquisite bathroom products and fine quality chocolate treats to welcome you. The super king bed was extremely comfortable and my husband and I slept like tops! Our room opened out onto a gorgeous veranda where, weather permitting, you can stargaze at night and relax during the day. We arrived too late for the welcome happy hour drinks to meet our host and other guests, but this was another lovely touch. Breakfast was divine. High quality ingredients, fresh fruits and pastries plus beautifully cooked hot options. Both hubby and I had the French toast which was accompanied by a divine fruit compote. Totally delicious. Sue Ellen was really helpful in providing tips on what to see and do in the area and relating to our onward journey. Thank you Sue Ellen for being so kind and attentive. We really felt that it was important to you that we enjoyed our stay and we appreciate the effort you made on our behalves. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend Rimu Lodge. You won't be disappointed.

This is a really first class operation. Only 4 rooms, each the same. Owner, Sue Ellen, did everything to make our stay special. She is friendly and full of suggestions and resources. She couldn’t have been more helpful. We enjoyed the cocktail hour out on the patio and a most delicious Full breakfast with lots of choices. Would definitely come again and highly recommend.

Wow, wow, wow! This is a great place to stay. Very comfortable, spacious and super welcoming. Breakfast is fantastic and there’s a nice happy hour. The rural area is quiet and beautiful. Walk to the pub up the road for dinner. Stop at the glow worm dell to see glow worms shine at night. The owner/host is a gem!

Absolutely beautiful property. Everything you need for a comfortable stay is provided plus more. Evening dinner drinks in the lounge room allows you to chat to fellow guests and a wonderful breakfast with various menu options cooked to order. Highly recommend this property.

The west coast of NZ is extremely rural and poor. Typically that means marginal lodging. Marginal amenities. Cheap motels. We were so pleasantly surprised to find the Rumi lodge the exact opposite. Wonderful accommodations and food. What a wonderful breakfast. Literally five star. Cecelia, the host, was wonderful . Warm and inviting and so full of helpful info. Two thumbs way up for Rumi lodge.

Private and quiet

This property was top shelf luxury and the innkeeper was so gracious. When we arrived she greeted us at the door, showed us around our room, started a fire in the fireplace. She gave us tourist sites like the glowworm dell 5 minutes.from the lodge, and printed us info on hikes for the next day. Breakfast was also delicious.

Luxurious, pampered, excellent unobtrusive service, fantastic location with mountain views
