Nice, clean place with good amenities in the room and main areas.

This rating hits right in the middle. The pros: - Excellent location - close to downtown detroit - Friendly staff - the staff that was at the front desk (i encountered 3 different women throughout my stay) were very pleasant The cons: - The room was very dirty - there was a half eaten cookie along the bed, debris on the floor throughout the room, sticky fingerprint all over the door, cupboards, and fridge. - We had very noisy people above us - there was stomping throughout the night. It almost sounded like they were moving furniture around. - My daughter was sick shortly after eating the breakfast - The trash near the elevator was full throughout our stay and didnt appear to get changed. It had a very strong odor - we opted for the stairs for this reason.

I appreciate the ceramic plates and flatware in the breakfast area and in our kitchenette. The pool was clean and the water was warm. The workout area had many useful machines and weights. There is a coin laundry within so that you could get in a workout while washing your clothes. Our room was nicely laid out with plenty of countertop space and open shelves on the walls to keep our clutter tidy yet still within easy view. Staff at the front desk and at the breakfast counter were genuinely friendly and helpful. Besides the make-your-own waffles and individual packages of yogurt, the breakfast offered was dismally icky. There is a 24-hour beverage bar in the lobby with brewed regular and decaffeinated coffee and hot water for assorted tea bags and hot chocolate packets. Ceramic cups and paper to-go cups are available.

Good room but breakfast was kind of okay

Staff were very pleasant. Improved from our previous stays several years ago. We noticed changes in the appearance of the property compared to our prior visits. Outside had many dead plants, rear sidewalks littered with cigarette butts and waste from geese and ducks.

The breakfast and room were ok. Why no quarters at the desk for laundry? Our beef was with the person at the desk who basically ignored us when we told him at 10:30 at night that our bathroom was filled with cigarette smoke. He walked the hall but would not knock on doors. I assume they should know who we share the ventilation system with? Any concern for fire? Anyway, we had to move all our stuff for a 9-night stay at 10:30 at night to a new room (our elderly dog has COPD) without any help from a valet cart as there were none available. There were also several people loitering in the back of the building where we took the dogs out. One man stood right by the door for hours smoking. It made me uncomfortable. I found barf and liquor bottles out there, etc. It was gross. I felt as though I could not roam outdoors safely and one night there were 5 police cars out there. Oh, and there was a fire alarm one morning at about 730am. I came down with my dogs via the steps carrying them and the management never bothered to do an all-clear announcement after initiating the fire alarm and fire department arriving. This place could be nice, and the cleaning people were awesome. The management and front desk need vast improvement. Smoke and fire alarms are serious. They should be acted upon with appropriate seriousness. They gave us a $25 credit for the inconvenience of moving rooms due to smoke inhalation. Inadequate.

Room service to clean was not thorough

Check In was smooth and friendly staff. Rooms had everything we needed and comfortable beds.

The employee who checked me in was very rude. The key card he made me didn’t work. This had also happened to the guest who checked in before me so it was presumably his fault. I didn’t see him again during my stay. All other employees were polite and helpful. The hotel states that there is housekeeping every other day. This isn’t true. Every three days would be more accurate. Once it was four days. My trash cans were overflowing. I noticed other guests leave no bags of trash in the hallway. Staff were not very quick replenishing the breakfast buffet. Often there was a long wait for coffee. Why serve egg whites rather than whole eggs? No-one was eating them.
