it's nowhere 4 star, barely a 3 star property. I do understand the location and heritage status for the building, but basis amenities were missing or not provided (bathroom slipper, dental kits).

After an weekend event was announced in Sydney that I wished to attend, I began looking for hotels in the City Centre. Having stayed at The Castlereagh Boutique Hotel many years ago and found it good value, I jumped and immediately booked to stay. Checkin was easy, and the room, while small, made a good base for exploring Sydney. Location wise it could not be easier for access to trains, with Gadigal Station around the corner and Town Hall, Museum and St James stations in walking distance. Inside, you can admire the history of the Freemason Heritage in the lobby and floors. Not an easy hotel to secure, but book in if its available.. well worth it.

Great location in the Sydney CBD, close to public transport (Gadigal & Town Hall Stations). Easy walk to major attractions, Hyde Park, Botanical Gardens, Darling Harbour, Opera House & Circular Quay. Just around corner to Queen Victoria Building and Westfield. Very friendly staff, went out of their way to make our stay enjoyable and provided great tips for places to visit and getting around city. Room was very clean with all amenities that we required. Highly recommend.

Over all our stay was very good we have no complaints an would recommend this hotel to anyone who is looking for a reasonable priced hotel in the city area close to everything.

An old fashioned hotel in culture and decor but up to date in amenities. Very relaxed atmosphere in keeping with that culture. Excellent location and marvellous dining options. I would stay there again.
