The villas are a little far from the beach ao the whole time i had to drive to the beach. Alsa at the beach club you have to pay for the beach chairs 6 dollars and for the beds $90 dollars at least the chairs should be free for guests.

The staff, Cindy and Hector, were excellent. The Villa on the Papapagay Resort was excelllent! I am not an AC person, so for us to have control of our own AC in our own 2 bedrooms was just wonderful. We had our own bathrooms too. The 80 degree weather with the continuous breeze from the huge wrap around porch (with the native birds visiting us) into the livingroom/kitchen added to our wonderful experience! There were only a few photos when I booked it, so I was pleasantly surprised. The 3-10 minute walk to the pool, beach and supermarket was perfect! The entertainment (DJs and band) and boutiques on the busy beach were great too! I am still talking about it to my friends and would joyfully stay there again! Cabs are expensive, so it is better to rent a car but Cindy Hector and another guy at the front desk that I cannot recall helped us with that.

Our stay at Papagayo Beach Resort was nice. Doors to open the Living Room area to the terrace are a little outdated and sometimes not easy to handle. Overall it was a good experience.

We stayed in a 2-bedroom garden view villa.
The grounds are very nice, yet the pool at the resort itself (not the ones at the beach club, which is a totally separate area) looked abandoned and not well-maintained.
The villa was generally clean, but there was A LOT of wear and tear. There is nothing the resort's cleaning staff can do with the state of the villa; it needs a renovation. This is not a 4-star property for sure (though I am quite confident it was 5-7 years ago); now it gives a 2-3-star feel.
Everything that can be scratched is scratched; everything will benefit from an extra coat of paint or two; windows and doors are either not working or working funny.
As other reviewers mentioned, the AC works in bedrooms but not in bathrooms or the living area. This was an architectural decision that has pros and cons - you just need to be aware.

Fantasztikus Everything was perfect. I just didn’t know we will have to cross street to get to the rest of the amenities and also pool and restaurant on the premises was closed.

Rooms are so comfortable and the kitchen has everything you need. The staff are kind and helpful, and the kids are at the pool was perfect for our 3 year old.
