price: this is considered cheap for me experience: underrated museum. If u go to Osaka, go to this museum. Although it’s not an open-air museum, the experience was great and the museum really tries to make u feel that u’re in the Edo period Osaka. The old houses, items in them, and the details are superb, they really work on this museum to bring the Edo period experience and vibes to us.
What an amazing feat to be able to build a entering housing street on the level 9 & 10 of a building. I have gain much greater insights pertaining to the evolution of housing and living conditions of Osaka since 1800s. The modern exhibition at level 8 is also amazing with the mechanisms that worked with the video. All in all it’s an unforgettable experience!
The tour in the Osaka Museum of Housing and Living was very enriching. it was amazing how Japanese kept their tradition and at the same time progressed into a modern society. The booking of tickets earlier via Klook save us time for queuing.
it was a beautiful replica of an old town showcasing the construction of the wooden houses and living quarters. What’s fascinating it that the village is built within the 8th-10th floors of a building.
I thoroughly enjoyed my visit, which offered a fascinating glimpse into traditional Japanese life and culture. This enchanting destination is a haven for those who appreciate timeless customs and heritage. The added charm of seeing many visitors adorned in traditional kimonos only enhanced the experience.
I didn’t expect a beautifully curated museum to be on the top floor of a building. A little hard to find but once you do you’ll love it. It really does transport you back in time into the old Osaka (Naniwa) with the townhouses. Highly recommended to anyone who is interested in art & history.
really good little museum. hard to find, its on top floor of a building opp macdonalds and end of shopping arcde. watch the 15-20min video shown in the bathhouse which explains the history of the place, era etc. give yourself 2hrs if you take your time to look around.. you can rent kimonos here to but its a bit dark - unless you use flash.
