Check in was good. We had a generous sized room looking out onto the bay with a balcony but it came at a hefty price. The carpet was stained and the bathroom floor dirty in the corners. Items were replaced haphazzardly. No mugs in the room despite a kettle and we had to ask for these. Breakfast was adequate but slightly mean spirited, evidenced by tiny juice glasses and bowls for other items. Bar service was friendly and welcoming with, surprisingly, generous portions for the bar food.

Everything was great. From the reception at the desk to the buffet, and setting up a surprise in our room for my son’s birthday we really enjoyed our stay at the Royal. It was the perfect way o experience Nice.

Old hotel but well maintained, friendly staff and in great location. We had large ocean view room and was great value compared to similar 4 stars nearby. This hotel should be 4 stars, I’ve stayed at the 4 star hotels nearby and I can’t see any difference. Late check out option at 10€ per hour was very useful.
