Fantastic

Solo stay

Every thing was just fine. Excellent location if you want to visit The Blue Mosque and Hagia Sofia. Very good breakfast and dining facilities.

Helpful staff and good breakfast. However the elevator was out of service… they said service was called for but it was never repaired for our entire stay. I traveled with my parents who are in their late 70’s and 80’s. They had to go up 3 flights of SPIRAL staircase just to get to the rooms. For a hotel establishment, this is inexcusable.

I stayed here because I had read it was a safe neighborhood and the reviews on Expedia were very good. First the positive: staff was very friendly and responsive - front desk, bar and breakfast. Area was convenient and safe. Cons: my room was just ok. There were at least 6 insects flying around my room when I checked in. Some of them were mosquitos I found out several bites later. The room needed painting and bathroom tub had cracks. Pillows too soft. Istanbul in general was a bit difficult as wherever I went even this neighborhood, I was bugged to buy a rug or eat at every restaurant or asked what I was looking for. If I ignored them, they often continued bugging me. Apparently this was a slow time too and at times food in restaurants seemed stale/not fresh and once I got food poisoning. If a restaurant is not busy avoid it - there may be a real reason for that.

Hotel Amira is a great location to see all the sites in Sultan Ahmet. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The elevator was broken during our stay and we were not provided the Expedia VIP drinks until our last day and we had to ask. The rooms are outdated but the bed was very comfortable. The breakfast was great, especially the traditional flat bread.

Staff were very solicitous and helpful. Carried luggage up all the stairs, helped with great restaurant recommendations, and our room was cleaned daily. Do call front desk for changes in room temperature as they control the settings despite room controls. Roof top terrace was lovely with great view albeit elevator stopped work before end of stay. Guests get 1st drink free. Breakfast had special Turkish options as well as western fare, and is included with stay for us.

We paid a premium for a Premier Suite. The ‘suite’ was two average, separate rooms next to each other, and there was nothing ‘premier’ about either room - or the hotel…. it needs updating. We had an open drain smell in the bathroom, dirty and threadbare carpet, cracked and broken furniture and floor skirting…. Just all a bit disappointing and underwhelming. The roof terrace/restaurant has a fabulous view, but no internal area, so eating outdoors is the only option. Location okay but I would book elsewhere for us next time.
