Good
While this is an aesthetically beautiful hotel and spa with comfortable beds and quiet rooms, the guest service fell well below what I'd expect from a 5-star hotel. Before our stay, I contacted the hotel via Expedia to explain that we don't drink (we booked two rooms) and was also assured one room would have twin beds. The hotel confirmed both requests, yet one room still had a bottle of wine and the twin bed request wasn't honoured. Our room also had maintenance issues. The shower drain cover was missing, leaving the drainage exposed, which I put on myself. The top shower fitting was also missing its cover, exposing the fixture underneath. Service was disappointing throughout. Staff helped another family with their luggage but left us to carry ours up and down on both arrival and departure. Breakfast and the restaurant menu offered very limited vegetarian/halal options. When we asked if an omelette could be made at breakfast, the response felt dismissive, and waiting 30 minutes for tea on the first day was unacceptable. Although a late check-out wasn't available, I was surprised there were no refreshment or changing facilities for guests staying on after check-out. Overall, while the hotel itself is attractive and has plenty of potential, the service simply didn't reflect a 5-star experience. A luxury hotel is defined as much by its attention to detail and guest service as it is by its facilities, and unfortunately those aspects fell short.

Fantastic

For business

This is a fantastic hotel. There is not much around locally but the centre is a short stroll away. I was there for a week and the service and attention to detail was appreciated. My room was upgraded from 1st to 2nd floor. I didn’t get to try the pool on the roof unfortunately it was busy the one free day I had so given it’s size I wondered if a booking system for the sun beds was in place or should be. Breakfast was great but the coffee choice was a bit limited and random. The restaurant food wad exceptionally good! All in all a very lovely hotel which met the standards I needed for a home for a full week in Porto!

Fantastic

Solo stay

Great location. Very helpful and friendly staff. Room was cosy, comfy bed. Spa was lovely. Nice gym. Food at the restaurant for lunch/dinner was soooo good! Excellent in fact. Breakfast was nice - fresh fruit, good healthy options. Hot breakfast could do with more variety but no complaints.

Fantastic

Stayed with partner

We stayed at the Altis Porto for 4 nights. It was situated just out of the hustle and bustle which meant it was very quiet but a short walk into town. Breakfast was plentiful and tasty, we ate in the restaurant one evening which although a little pricy was very enjoyable. The only negative was people were allowed out towels down on sun loungers and then not turn up for hours

Fantastic

Solo stay

Fantastic property, with wonderful, friendly staff. The location is in a quieter part of Porto which can be nice, but means a bit of a walk or a quick uber to the busier parts. The spa and rooftop pool were phenomenal! Breakfast was always delicious. The rooms were well-maintained and just as pictured. They even left a free bottle of wine as a welcome gift!
