The onsen was great. Tattooed guests have two hours late at night they can use it which is lovely. The staff were super helpful and very kind.

शानदार The property is located within walking distance to all the heritage attractions of Nikko. Big plus if you are spending the time to visit those attractions and downtown Nikko.
The dinner and breakfast were included in the "half board" package. Wonderful food and beautifully presented, very typical of the Japanese ryokan style.
We had the Japanese style tatami room which is very spacious. It has ensuite toilet and wash basin but not the shower/bath. That you have to go to the onsen common bathroom to do. Not a problem for us.
The property is a bit dated. The colour and decors were dull, and the onsen itself has tiles that were dislodging from the wall due to the high humidity and poor ventilation. Therefore, the inn doesn't give that ryokan charm and doesn't promote that relaxing zen feel. A refreshed look would bring this inn to the level which would be more in line with the wonderful service from the staff and the amazing food.

Convenient to the attractions, nice staffs. A bit old but considering the price, still a good choice for budgeted onsen stay with two meals.

शानदार What a delightful old world charm this hotel has. Great room and wonderful food. Definitely take the Japanese room with half board. The onsens were very nice. The location is superb right next door to the temple sites and forest.
