Great evening out in Kyoto with my daughter celebrating her birthday. Besides being culturally enriched it was also highly educational and very entertaining. you get to see genuine injury- retired sumo wrestlers in demonstrations, AND you get to have a once in a lifetime hand to hand “combat” with a fearsome warrior. Both the wrestlers on the night Wakakirin SAN and Tokiyutaka SAN were both excellent, as was the MC who kept everything moving and everyone well entertained. If your package comes with food you get to try a little taste of the sumo diet. Otherwise you get a free drink. Shoutout to Sash SAN for her great attitude and service . The location couldn’t be more convenient.. just 7 to 10 minutes by the KARASUMA subway line to Marutamachi station from Kyoto station, then a short 5 minutes walk to the venue. Highly recommended for both family and anyone keen to have a hands on and unique Japanese cultural experience.

This is a fantastic experience, we learned a lot about sumo, had a lot of laughs. The wrestlers are amazing athletes but also very entertaining, they love the crowd. We had the chicken hotpot meal as well and it was delicious. I love also that the experience allows professional sumo wrestlers to continue doing what they love, while educating and entertaining people at the same time. Highly recommend going, take the whole family! Thank you so much 🙏

A superb experience and must try! My son and I had a phenomenal time. The food was tasty, learning about the history of Sumo was fascinating, but the best part was my son being able to participate. Jin was very knowledgeable and the rest of the staff were engaging, charming and attentive. Definitely one of our highlights of our trip. I would highly recommend trying this!

very funny entertaining and well organised, food was lovely too i wasn’t sure before booking of it was my kind of thing I got involved and had the best night in Japan so far would definitely recommend staff and wrestlers very polite 😊

Really a must-do! We’ve had a super fun evening. And you get to know the sport a bit better. Our oldest son got to wrestle with one of the Sumo-wrestlers! Both our teenagers loved it, and that’s saying something! The diner is also well prepared and tasteful. Correct price for a fun evening.

An unforgettable experience! The energy throughout the Kyoto Sumo Experience with Rikishi Challenge was incredible, and the audience participation made it so much fun and engaging. The rikishi were not only entertaining but also did a fantastic job educating us about the traditions and techniques of sumo. The meal was excellent—authentic, delicious, and a perfect complement to the event. It was the perfect blend of culture, entertainment, and cuisine. Highly recommend to anyone visiting Kyoto!

Such a fun and unforgettable experience! Tried my luck against a former sumo wrestler (it went about as expected 😂). Definitely a must-do in Kyoto!

We would give them 10 stars if we could, we had such a fantastic night! From the second we walked in the door, everyone was so kind. The two sumos who ran the show were wonderful and had us all in stitches. There's plenty of opportunities to participate yourself (women and kids are more than welcome too!!) or just kick back and enjoy the show. This was definitely a highlight of our entire two week trip to Japan!!!! Put it on your to-do list!!!!

Do this! Food is good and served upon arrival at your seat. Staff members seem glad to have you there. Sumo professionals are friendly, welcoming, and highly skilled. The vibe is casual with a clear interests in making sumo something g we all can enjoy. And the price is so affordable.
