The room was clean, and onsen was great! The dinner and breakfast were both served in-room with traditional Japanese style. We arrived early and didn't get to use the pick-up service, but it was easy enough to just take the cable car to Souzan and walk to the hotel.

The pros: location is incredible, next to the ropeway. The staff were incredibly nice and went above and beyond with service. The hot spring was fantastic and really well maintained. Very good ryokan style experience.
The cons: the rooms were not really well kept. Lots of cob webs around and the sink didn’t have hot water working. Other thing that may have been an isolated incident, but both me and my friend ate their traditional dinner service and following breakfast. That’s the only thing we ate for the day. We both got horribly sick for two days with seemingly food poisoning after eating these meals. Didn’t have this issue our entire time in Japan aside from this one location. If it weren’t for that one aspect, I would have rated it a 3.5/5.

The accommodation is very nice, the staff is very attentive and friendly. The onsen is wonderful. I had a room with private hot spring because I didn’t know if I’d have the courage to use the public one, but I ended up using both. The private onsen is much colder and deeper than the public one (I was there in a cold night in April - 1oC). They serve traditional Japanese breakfast.

We stayed in this hotel for one night to have an authentic Japanese experience with a private onsen. The rooms very large and it was a bit too big for two people. I think it would be better for a larger group, and the price would also be justified. Other than that, we had a great stay.

The staff that set up our meals was the best we have ever had she flew down the stairs with our shoes at lightening speed and explained every meal with a huge smile

Highly recommend for the authentic Ryokan experience. It has an authenticity to it that the fancier places don't.
Staff and service were amazing. Onsen were great with some fantastic views.
Definitely a must if staying overnight in Hakone area.

We had the loveliest night here, and the service was fantastic. We found the main lady who looked after us to be wonderful, fun, friendly and very caring. The inn may be a bit older but it was cosy and comfortable. It could use perhaps a little renovation, but won't stop us from staying again when we return!

Overall this was a good stay
This was our first time in a Ryokan so we were not sure what to expect. The staff was very nice and welcoming, and catered to our every need. The room was in traditional style where you sleep on futons, and have breakfast and dinner served to your room by the nice lady that is with you through your whole stay.
Bathroom has a japanese toilet, and there is no shower in the room, instead you shower in the Onsen. What we did is use the Onsen, then have the evening shower, and eat dinner.
The food served is traditional, and for some can be challenging, but in my opinion most of what we had was tasty. You can also talk to the hotel if you have certain requirements or prefer something different and a bit more western.
The futons were OK, and there were extra pillows in the closet. The onsen is nice and relaxing.
The location is also very good because it's right next to the Hakone Ropeway station.
The hotel is quite old and not renovated, but in my opinion, it adds to the "magic" of experiencing a traditional stay.
However, it can be cleaner.
Overall a good stay, and we thank the hotel staff and the nice lady who was with us.
