This was honestly one of the worst hotel experiences I’ve ever had. I genuinely cannot believe this place is meant to be a 4-star hotel.
From the outside, it looks quite decent, and having a pool, gym and Starbucks on site gives the impression that it’s going to be a good stay. Unfortunately, that couldn’t have been further from the truth. As soon as we got to the room, it was obvious we’d massively overpaid.
The room was unbearably hot, and the window had clearly been left open because there was no air conditioning at all. Instead, there was a tiny fan that was completely useless and just seemed to push hot air around. I complained to the duty manager, who brought a stronger fan, but it barely helped. To make matters worse, there wasn’t even any complimentary tea or coffee in the room, which is the bare minimum you’d expect.
We then tried to complain, but got stuck in a ridiculous back and forth between the hotel and Hotels.com, each telling us to take it up with the other. After more than an hour of this, and feeling completely frustrated and let down, we ended up cancelling the booking and getting a refund.
I would never stay at a Village Hotel again after this. Really disappointing experience, and nowhere near the standard it claims to be.
