Super It looks like the place has been going thru renovations. The room has new kitchen and floor, may be carpet too. It is about 15-20 min. to the NP visitor center and many thrailheads and has restaurants and supermarket nearby. Since the room has full pane glass as wall and access door along the corridor ( much like patio door ) which allows full view of the mountains and also tenants walking on the corridor. For privacy, you need to close the curtain.

Super This is obviously a work in progress. Walking up to the building my first impression was a tad apprehensive. To my delight the owners focused on renovating the interior first and appear to be working on the exterior (although no active work was in progress while we were there). The room was clean, updated and was as advertised. Nice stay.

We’ve had the best time at Alpine Chalets. Amazing hospitality from the staff, the rooms are clean, tidy and very modern. The views were spectacular of the mountains! Highly recommend, will definitely be back :)

Good room size and value for money. Really decent view from the second level. Owners are renovating so room we stayed in was comfy but aged. Hopefully all rooms will be updated soon.

My room was the top floor of the chalets. There were very steep and narrow stairs to get tot he room, but it wasn't a big deal. There was only a glass storm door as the door which offered no privacy or sound blocking. With the road noise from the highway, I got almost 0 sleep. There were spider and cobwebs all over the place. The shower was very difficult to get to a good temperature and had very poor pressure. Easily the worst stay of my trip to New Zealand.

We stayed here for two nights, before and after our Tongariro Crossing trip. The room was clean and had everything we needed. Check in and communication was straightforward. The ear plugs left on the table came in handy as the property is located next to a fairly busy road and trucks transporting cars stop and do their driver change-over next to it.
Also the carpet in the room could do with a refresh as it does not smell very nice.
