You can deeply experience the charm of Ainu culture by watching performances of ancient Ainu dances, experiencing traditional skills, tasting food culture, and participating in activities such as making traditional handicrafts. It is also a resting place surrounded by rich nature and full of Ainu culture.
This is the first national museum in Hokkaido, dedicated to displaying the history and culture of the Ainu people. The exhibition is divided into a basic exhibition room narrated from the perspective of the Ainu people and a special exhibition room for visitors to visit. In addition to the exhibition room, the museum also has a theater showing films. In addition, the museum shop also offers a variety of handicrafts and original goods for visitors to purchase.
Lunch is free and you can choose from four restaurants. There are Ainu cuisine and desserts produced in the province, as well as a museum shop selling special souvenirs of Ainu culture!

Nous n'avions pas beaucoup de temps pour explorer l'ensemble des installations et le « guide » qui nous a été attribué ne parle que japonais. Le chauffeur et la personne de référence nous ont seulement conduits à l'aller et au retour dans la zone ; il s'agit en réalité davantage d'une visite autoguidée. Néanmoins, l'expérience a été mémorable et la visite de cet endroit en valait la peine.
Ce n'est pas une visite guidée, nous avons rencontré la personne responsable au point de rassemblement et avons été amenés au bus en direction d'Upopoy. Le trajet en bus a duré 1 heure, les sièges étaient assez serrés car une petite camionnette était déployée probablement en raison du petit nombre de participants, nous étions les seuls participants étrangers avec environ 6 vieilles dames japonaises. À l'arrivée, une autre personne responsable nous a délivré un billet et nous a fait une explication simple en japonais que nous ne pouvions pas du tout comprendre. À partir de ce moment, c'était gratuit et facile. Il y avait quelques performances disponibles avec un audioguide en anglais. Les expositions et les ateliers sont tous en japonais. 90 % des objets du musée sont présentés avec une explication en anglais, ce qui était vraiment suffisant pour nous. Nous avons pu essayer gratuitement des costumes simples d'Ainu et nous nous sommes fait prendre en photo par un personnel serviable et sympathique. Des ateliers tels que la broderie et la sculpture sur bois sont disponibles au prix de 1 000 yens, bien que ce soit abordable mais cela prend 60 minutes, à ce moment-là, il ne vous reste plus beaucoup de temps pour explorer le musée. Le paysage est magnifique, nous aurions aimé pouvoir y rester plus de 4 heures. Je ne sais pas si c'est parce que nous y sommes allés tôt le matin, il n'y avait pas beaucoup de visiteurs. C'est vraiment un joyau caché car il n'a pas été pollué par XHS et ses utilisateurs (si vous voyez ce que je veux dire)
Il s'agissait d'une navette avec un guide anglophone pour expliquer l'agencement du centre culturel Ainu, puis nous avions du temps libre (environ 4 heures) pour faire le tour, assister à des spectacles en direct et manger. J'ai trouvé cela très intéressant, mais je m'intéresse également à la culture autochtone.

- Passengers may bring one suitcase each (not exceeding 30kg) to be stored in the bus trunk. The depth/height/width of each piece of luggage shall not exceed 155cm. Please do not store valuable luggage in the bus trunk. The company will not be liable for any loss, theft or damage to luggage stored in the bus trunk.
