We stayed for 1 night. We drove 6 hours to get to Palmerston North to visit a sick family member in Hospital. We were expecting secure off street parking, as that was what was advertised, but there was none available as the hotel one was full (7 car spots). The guy at the check in was not interested and mumbled something about a carpark down the road that may be available. It was like we had offended him somehow by asking where we could park. After looking everywhere and not finding any carpark, we had to park 100m down the road and lug our bags the whole way. Not cool after driving half the day! The restaurant staff (1 waiter and a barman) were also odd. Watching us eat and chuckling to themselves, looking at their watches at only 8pm. No wonder the place was empty. When I went to get my partner another glass of wine (the waiter had disappeared) the barman stared at the empty glass for a good 5 seconds before nodding and refilling it. It was like the Twilight Zone and not a great experience all round.

Clean rooms awesome service

The room was clean and tidy, but there was no air conditioning which really made for an uncomfortable nights sleep, the reason we stopped in before our drive up north.

If it was half the price it might be ok, but a very sub par experience overall.

Great character hotel

It was everything we wanted, quiet, clean, nice staff, excellent breakfast. Walkable distances to shops and venues and safe, secure parking.
