The Horse & Farrier Inn and The Salutation Inn

Stayed in Saddleback suite, lush big stand alone bath, with seperate (powerful) shower, huge comfy bed, all plugs had USB fittings, well decorated, comes with a fan for the warmer weather, views to the back of Blencathra. Nice big beer garden to enjoy a drink or 2. Perfect location for a bus into Keswick or starting point for a walk, Threlkeld to Keswick railway route 4 miles straight into Keswick. Really nice breakfast the next morning with a slightly later and much appreciated 10.30 kick out. Very friendly and helpful staff. Very very nice stay and 100% we will be returning.

The Farrier Inn is a well run and customer focussed establishment. Dave runs a tight ship but with a very light touch. The staff were all very attentive and keen to please. The room was a decent size with comfortable beds … and the rainforest shower was a great tonic to wash away the day. I will certainly stay there again!

I would not stay there again, I was very disappointed to see how dirty the kitchen was. The dustbin lids looked as if they hadn’t been cleaned for a while as the was still food around the bin. We ate at there other restaurant when we arrived the food wasn’t up to the standard I thought it would of been the starter and main meal my wife had were both dry and the fish and chips I had was very disappointing. We went down for breakfast the next morning and it was very poor no flavor to the bacon eggs not cooked properly, coffee was very poor and didn’t even taste like coffee. We end up cutting our trip short due to all of these issues and left after 1 night due still seeing the state of the kitchen the next morning.

We stayed at the Horse and Farrier the night before our hike up Scafell Pike, it's only a 25 minute drive to Seathwaite Parking, if you're going up the corridor route. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. the food was lovely and the room we stayed in was clean, well presented and comfy. Definitely recommend eating nd staying here!

Great stay. Lovely, cosy feel.

We arrived and wasn't too sure which of the pubs we were staying in. One of the girls was really helpful. The room was extremely small but absolutely not an issue. It was relatively clean, the only thing's that were a bit of a put off - the stains on the chair in the room, cooling fan covered thick in dust, bath matt was mouldy and the bathroom had black mould on the ceiling. Despite this the bedding and towels were all nice and clean. Weve never had a shower so hot before in any hotel which was brilliant. Also plenty of tea supplied in the room. We had our tea in the evening. The service wasn't great and was extremely slow. The food was ok. Breakfast had a very small allocation time but was the nicest bit of food we'd had. Would i stay here again. Yes as overall it was a good location and the points id made didnt impact us for one night. Although i would probably look somewhere else first.

Very good accommodation and excellent food. Bar attractive, well stocked.

Room was ideal, and there was a very friendly welcome. Location is great, for a spot outside of the main towns but close to travel links.

I’ve stayed here many times on business. A lovely vibe, excellent food, cracking selection of beers and excellent rooms. Nothing more to say than I’ll be returning.
