UrCove by Hyatt Beijing Forbidden City

This hotel is in an amazing location and overall very clean. The staff are helpful but have limited English. The breakfast is good. However the hotel is a little run down.

The entire exterior is under construction and is an eye sore. The lobby at the 8th floor often seems unorganized and chaotic, Rooms could use a facelift. The Air conditioning was not very strong. The rooftop bar could also use an upgrade! However, the area was close to the main events. Not far from shopping or the Pakace.

This hotel has an excellent location. I found the breakfast very good, but sometimes it was cold. The room and hotel were clean, but pretty worn down. Sometimes room cleaning didn’t happen until 5 pm which was quite annoying, and what was replaced in each clean was a little haphazard. The staff tried to be helpful but knew very little English which was surprising for a hotel in this area. The rooftop bar was pretty worn down and confusing to navigate but had a nice view.

Room is clean and easily accessed.

I've stayed in many Hyatt brands across the world, and UrCove is a massive disappointment. First of - none of the staff spoke English and was terribly rude. When we were in other cities staying at local Chinese hotels, this wasn't an issue. Second, the rooms were very uncomfortable because they switched off the AC despite the warm weather. Beijing hit 27 degrees Celsius during the day. Our room was at 25 degrees. It was truly unacceptable. The staff told us to open the window, which made us sick as we learnt later that the Beijing air quality had gone up to 221 AQI! Rooms were very small. Breakfast was OK, nothing to write home about. Don't expect anything remotely luxurious... The lobby looked like a hostel check in. Check in is scattered in both Lobby level and 8th floor level. Save your money and stay somewhere else - even local Chinese hotels offer better experience!

Tired, old hotel that smells of sewer gas with odd shaped floor plans and in need of renovation, all masked by a veneer of urban chic cool and sprays of men’s cologne. Very poor food.
