I had an absolutely unforgettable experience with this Mother-of-Pearl workshop in Seoul. Out of everything I did during my trip, this was truly one of the most meaningful and memorable activities. From the moment I arrived, I could feel that this was not just a typical tourist activity, but a carefully curated cultural experience. The space itself is beautifully designed -calm, artistic, and inspiring. It immediately sets the tone for a creative and immersive experience. Every detail, from the materials to the atmosphere, felt intentional and thoughtfully prepared. The workshop process was incredibly engaging. Even as a complete beginner, I never felt overwhelmed. The instructions were clear, detailed, and easy to follow, allowing me to fully enjoy the process of designing and creating my own piece. Working with mother-of-pearl is something truly special the way it reflects light and reveals different colors is mesmerizing. It felt like I was creating something genuinely unique.

Our group of four stumbled upon this gem and it turned out to be the highlight of our entire Seoul trip. June, the owner, is incredibly warm, knowledgeable, and passionate about Korean cultural heritage. From the moment we walked in, he made all four of us feel right at home. He guided us patiently through the entire mother-of-pearl crafting process, sharing the history behind najeonchilgi while making sure everyone in our group felt supported. Despite being a group of four, no one ever felt rushed or overlooked. We laughed, learned, and created together — each walking away with a unique handmade piece we’ll treasure forever. The place was really calm and peaceful while the teacher was very patient and helpful throughout the whole process. There are many colorful pieces and using the different shapes made from abalone shell was really interesting.

Me and my friend were so happy throughout the experience: we were initially introduced by the teacher to all the instruments and materials, then we were given a video in order to menage it to follow the instructions step by step. But the teacher was really kind and always ready to help whenever he saw us struggling or when we would call him. Furthermore he would chat with us about daily things so it was delightful to sit there, doing relaxing crafts while chatting. An we made such a precious thing. Absolutely to repeat it again.

Despite arriving late to my reservation the staff member here today, June was very welcoming. He explained the history of the craft and answered all my questions. And also explained each step of the process. I was the only one here but I felt very comfortable. I would definitely recommend booking here. Especially with friends.

By the end of the workshop, I wasn’t just leaving with a souvenir—I was leaving with a story, a memory, and a deeper appreciation for Korean culture.
