Mitä odottaa
Opi ja ymmärrä, miten batik valmistetaan ja mitkä ovat sen valmistusprosessit. Käsin "canting"-työkalulla vahattu batik tunnetaan nimellä "Batik Tulis". Tämä on alkuperäinen tai perinteinen tapa luoda batikia. Työkalua, jolla vahaa levitetään ohuina viivoina, kutsutaan "cantingiksi". Canting-työkalu koostuu kahdesta osasta: bambusta valmistetusta kahvasta ja kuparista valmistetusta etusuuttimesta.
Paja alkaa lyhyellä johdatuksella batik-teoriaan, kattaen sen rikkaan historian ja perinteisten kuvioiden symboliikan. Ohjaajamme pitävät sitten live-demonstraation aidosta batik-piirustusprosessista sulatetun vahan avulla. Tämän jälkeen osallistujat luovat omat batik-kuvionsa ennalta valituille malleille ohjatussa valvonnassa.

This Batik Tulis workshop at Ozel was amazing from start to finish. Big thanks to Ms. Zakiah, who is such a welcoming and knowledgeable teacher. Getting hands-on with authentic tools, learning about Southeast Asian batik heritage, and walking away with a handmade piece from my first Batik experience made, it so rewarding and memorable. Left with great memories and a genuine appreciation for the craft!
A must try experience! The staff were so welcoming and friendly, giving us a brief but interesting introduction to the different batik styles and customs before explaining the methods to properly do the batik wax design. You will choose a stencil, draw out the design with the wax, then paint it to your liking! What a lovely and enriching experience. 10/10 recommend!
I had a wonderful experience with my child. Since I am not very confident speaking English, I really appreciated how patiently and slowly everything was explained to us. It was very helpful and made the experience much more enjoyable. We also learned a lot from all the explanations and information you kindly shared with us. I had such a wonderful time at this batik workshop! We learnt about the different batik patterns and their meanings, which made the experience so meaningful and enriching. What I loved most was that we didn’t just watch — we actually got to use the wax and paint our own batik piece, which was really fun and hands-on. It felt very authentic and engaging from start to finish. It was definitely a great use of the SG culture pass 👍🏼
