What does a network lock or carrier lock mean?

You can't install an eSIM on a locked device. If you bought your phone directly from a carrier, it might be locked to their network. To use an eSIM, you'll need to contact them to unlock it.If you recently unlocked your phone, your carrier might temporarily disable eSIM support for security reasons. Contact them to re-enable it.

How to check if your iPhone is unlocked from device settings

1. Go to Settings > General > About.
2. Scroll down to Network Provider Lock.

• No SIM restrictions: Your iPhone is unlocked and ready for an eSIM.
• SIM Locked: Your phone is locked. You can't use an eSIM until your carrier unlocks it.

How to check if your Android device is unlocked from device settings

1. Go to Settings > Connections > Mobile Networks > Network Operators.
2. Turn off “Select Automatically” to view available networks.

• Multiple operators listed:Your phone is unlocked and ready for an eSIM..
• Only one operator listed, or you cannot turn off “Select Automatically”: Your phone is locked. You can't use an eSIM until your carrier unlocks it.
