Na Young Kim Piano Recital | Concert Information

Lauded by the Boston Globe as "full of command and poise,” Korean pianist Na Young Kim is earning praise as a “real artist with poetic soul” (Sergei Babayan, Artist-in-Residence at Cleveland Institute of Music) who combines "Sterling technique, driving energy, strong dramatic sense, and amazingly clear sound.” (New York Concert Review) For her New York Debut recital at Merkin Concert Hall in 2013, Jeffrey Williams of New York Concert Review stated, “Ms. Kim projects an image of calm inner confidence. Everything seems to have been well thought out, planned carefully, and executed with the utmost precision... Na Young Kim is a musician to watch.”

Ms. Kim has performed worldwide as a recitalist and in numerous chamber music concerts. She drew acclaim for her performances with Korean Broadcasting System Symphony, Buchoun Symphony, Suwon Symphony, Busan Symphony, Prime Philharmonic, Janacek Philharmonic, Manhattan Chamber Orchestra, and Wiener Residenz Orchestra. Her Grand prize-winning performance in the Korean Broadcasting System Music competition led her to an invitation to perform at Lincoln Center Alice Tully Hall in 1995. She is also the first prize winner of the Jung-Ang Music competition, EumYeon Piano competition, JM Debut audition, and New England Conservatory Concerto competition in Boston.

As a winner of the 2005 Seoul Art Center Music Festival Concerto Audition, Ms. Kim played with DaeJun Civic Symphony Orchestra at Seoul Art Center. She performed recitals in Japan, Germany, France, Italy, Austria, and the USA. She performed at prestigious venues including Carnegie Weill recital hall in New York, USA, and Berlin Philharmonie Kämmermusicssal in Berlin, Germany. She has been featured in a cover story in Musica di Pianoforte and International Piano, some of the leading music magazines in Korea. In recent seasons, Ms. Kim was invited to perform at Seoul Art Center Orchestra Festival as a soloist playing Rachmaninoff Piano Concerto No. 3 with Jeonju Symphony Orchestra.

She received her Bachelor's degree from Seoul National University where she studied with Jin-Woo Chung and holds a Master's degree and a Graduate diploma from New England Conservatory in Boston studying with Wha Kyung Byun and Russell Sherman. After receiving her Artist diploma at the Cleveland Institute of Music under the guidance of Sergei Babayan, Ms. Kim received her DMA degree from Ohio State University studying with Caroline Hong. She taught at Seoul National University, Korea National University of Arts and many other universities in Korea. She was invited to teach at many master classes including Euro Music Festival in Leipzig, Germany. Ms. Kim serves as a competition jury member internationally and is currently a professor and chair person of the Music Department, College of Arts and Physical Education at Sejong University in Seoul, Korea.
