Academy of Taiwan Strings | Asia Concert Tour Singapore 2023 Information
After seven years of waiting, the Academy of Taiwan Strings is returning to the international stage with its first-ever Asia tour, presenting its multifaceted repertoire in a variety of musical styles.
The ATS is presenting its world tour after a seven-year hiatus, bringing Taiwanese classical music to Asia, namely Singapore, a nation with a flourishing classical music environment, and Malaysia, a country with a vibrant cultural life.
The Asia Tour will cover three themes:
“ String Classics featuring” J. Brahms’ String Quintet (Version for String Orchestra) and E. Elgar’s Introduction and Allegro
“ Familiar Melodies” presenting Piazzolla’s Oblivion and Libertango in various arrangements
“ World Connection” featuring a new composition by renowned Singaporean composer Tan Chan Boon
The tour will also include Japanese composer Koji Sakurai’s “Last Forever,” an emotionally charged piece inspired by Eileen Chang’s “Red Rose, White Rose.”
With Singapore and Malaysia as its first stops, the ATS will showcase its multifarious aspects with different musical styles, wishing that the concerts will open up a new imagination about Taiwanese classical music
