NTU CAC Chinese Orchestra (NTUCO) is excited to present to you their Annual Concert – ‘Transient Reminiscences 2023: Timeless 25’, on 19 March 2023, Sunday, at 7pm at Esplanade Concert Hall. ‘Transient Reminiscences 2023: _Timeless 25_’ will be their largest scale ever in celebration of their 40th anniversary since their establishment in 1983 and their 25th annual concert series.
Classic Pieces, New Interpretation
Under the baton of Mr. Ng Seng Hong, NTUCO will be featuring a series of Chinese Orchestra masterpieces such as Zhong Ruan Concerto: Reminiscences of Yunnan Third Mov.《云南回忆》第三乐章, Terracotta Warriors Fantasia 《秦兵马俑》幻想曲 and many other breath-taking pieces. In addition, the Guzheng section will be showcasing their ensemble piece titled Melody from Shanxi《山西调》.
Featuring Ms Tan Zhi Xuan, the soloist of Zhong Ruan Concerto: Reminiscences of Yunnan Third Mov.《云南回忆》第三乐章, composed by Liu Xing.
Under the tutelage of Zhong Ruan musician, Tan Su-Min, Clara since 2013, Ms Tan Zhi Xuan started learning Zhong Ruan. Besides, Zhi Xuan is also an awardee of Central Conservatory of Music Performance (Diploma) Grade and silver awardee of Nanyang International Music Competition (Chinese Division) in 2021.
As one of the most popular Zhong Ruan pieces, Reminiscences of Yunnan Third Mov.《云南回忆》第三乐章 involves a fast tempo and numerous advanced techniques, which require a high level of coordination between the conductor, the soloist and the orchestra.
This Annual Concert not only marks an important milestone for NTUCO but is also meaningful to every member of NTUCO by showcasing the members' and instructors’ passion for Chinese music and commemorates their camaraderie as an Orchestra.

About the organizer
Established in 1983, NTU CAC Chinese Orchestra is currently one of the most active member clubs under NTU’s Cultural Activities Club. Since its establishment, NTUCO has been able to make tremendous progress under the tutelage of conductor Mr Ng Seng Hong and fellow instructors. The weekly meetings and practices with fellow Chinese music enthusiasts and friends are a welcome reprieve from the monotony of university life and studying. NTUCO aims to spread the appreciation of traditional Chinese music with others via engaging and passionate performances.
