WISMA GEYLANG SERAI CELEBRATES #RAYAGEMILANG

#RAYAGEMILANG which means Glorious Raya is Wisma Geylang Serai’s (WGS) Ramadan and Raya campaign theme for this year. WGS aims to cheer the community to joyfully rejoice in the Hari Raya celebrations, with the offerings of Hari Raya Light Up 2023 @ Geylang Serai and exciting daily curated programming including performances from local and overseas artistes, cultural showcases, entertainment, celebrity appearances, food recipe demonstrations, motivation talks performed by more than 200 cultural groups, local and overseas talents and personalities.

Visitors to WGS would also get to visit the highly anticipated much experiential Bazaar Raya Geylang Serai 2023 with curated thematic stalls, items and trades, starting from Friday, 17th March 2023 to Friday, 21st April 2023, from 10am to 11.59pm. The bazaar will be extended to 6am on the eve of Hari Raya on 22nd April 2023.

WGS Ramadan and Raya 2023

For 36 days, apart from Bazaar Raya Geylang Serai 2023, the community can enjoy a myriad of programmes and events held at WGS and the bazaar.

Hari Raya Light Up 2023 @ Geylang Serai

WGS Ramadan and Raya campaign will commence on the (HRLU) launch show which will be opened by the esteemed Malay traditional singer, Noraniza Idris. Popular local performers such as Taufik Batisah, Imran Ajmain and Hetty Sarlene together with arts groups: Kirana Seni dancers, Sri Warisan dancers, Kelana Purba dikir barat and Orkes Engku Aman resident band will be entertaining the audience in Persada Budaya. HRLU will be hosted by personalities Gloria Tan, who has hosted HRLU since 2021, and radio veteran, Ab Shaik.

The annual Hari Raya Light Up 2023 @ Geylang Serai, street lightings and decorations along Geylang Road and Sims Avenue will be launched on 17th March 2023 during the HRLU Launch show. Carrying the theme “Masyarakat Gemilang – Community of Success”, it aims to symbolise how the Malay / Muslim community has thrived as a community together, recovering from disruptions caused by the pandemic, by demonstrating the 3 Cs – Competency, Character, and Citizenry.

The streets and buildings in Geylang Serai will be brighten up with motifs incorporating elements of crescent moon and stars, oil lamps (lampu colok) and colourful and vibrant flowers to represent a new beginning, growth, and hope. The beautiful streetlights will be up till 30 April 2023.

Bazaar Programming

Bazaar visitors will get to enjoy bazaar food, bask in the atmosphere, and serenaded and entertained by notable and well-known artistes and buskers from Singapore and Malaysia such as Ryzall Noh, Aliff Syukri, Rahmat Mega, Mark Adams and more.

Persada Budaya Stage Programming

Popular performers such as Masdo, OKLETSGO, Ramli Sarip, Ziana Zain, Hael Husaini, Tomok, Raihan together with more than 200 cultural groups, local and overseas talents and personalities will be entertaining guests daily from 830pm (on Monday to Thursday) and 445pm (on Friday to Sunday) at Persada Budaya, Level 1 in WGS building.
