Louis Lortie Plays Chopin's Etudes & Preludes | Concert Introduction

Frederic Chopin often said the art of interpretation lies in the ability to ​“tell a piece”. This commitment could not shine through better in the incomparable French-Canadian pianist Louis Lortie’s career-long survey – both in concert and in recordings – of Chopin’s complete solo piano works. Versatile and of consistently high standard, he has demonstrated for decades “humanistic, selfless music-making, devoid of sentimentality, for which Lortie’s Chopin has justly been praised” (Gramophone).

For his long overdue Singapore debut, Lortie will present the complete Etudes and Preludes, a monumental undertaking which has been fittingly crowned “Chopin playing of sublime genius” (Fanfare), with the Financial Times declaring that “better Chopin playing than this is not to be heard, not anywhere.”
