About Sembawang Wind Orchestra

The Sembawang Wind Orchestra (SWO) was inaugurated in 1992 by the former MP for Sembawang GRC and and 7th President of the Republic of Singapore, Dr. Tony Tan Keng Yam. It is the pioneer community band in Singapore, comprising players from all walks of life, embracing ethnic harmony and social cohesion.

Since then, SWO has actively participated in local community events, and have won awards at the Southern Cross Music Festival as well as the Australian International Music Festival. SWO’s continued mission is to be a centre for musical activities and musical aspirations for people of all walks of life. It also aims to be a semi-professional ensemble and act as ambassadors for Sembawang Community Club.
