I stayed at this resort as it was undergoing management change. The new owners used to work at the Ritz Carlton and are planning to bring some of that high quality service to the resort. I am writing this review in support of them, as I was very impressed with their vision for the resort and their attentive service during my stay. I wish them all the best.
Rooms are gorgeous. They only have 8 suites, and I have been told that they are all unique. Each suite has tasteful Chinese antique decor with modern amenities like an outdoor bath tub. Netflix is available. I had a private patio which is nice. What impressed me the most were the Frette bed sheets being used. These are some crazy high-end Italian bed sheets, and sleeping on them are already worth the price of admission.
I was there when they are prepping the place for a full opening in July, so the staff was on the move 24/7. Yet, they had time to address my needs, and for the owners to spend time with me. I took some marks off for condition, as I could see that there were areas which they are in the process of refurbishing.
My sense is that the new owners are trying to be different from the big box chain hotels, with a charming and luxurious boutique using high-end amenities + great personalized service. Its eas(ier) to do when you only have 8 rooms.
