I have been traveling by bicycle for thirteen months around the world and have stayed in hundreds and hundreds of hotels. This is one of the very best. Why? Let me count the ways.
The bed is super luxurious, super comfortable. A great sleep--always the most important thing (The road is a little noisy during the day but quiets down to next to nothing in early evening). A very good sleep.
The room itself is well appointed and well decorated and well stocked with snacks and drinks.
The room, indeed the whole hotel and its beautifully maintained lawns, is spotlessly clean.
The breakfast is superb. I stayed three nights (the ferry to Green Island can be capricious, and the National Museum of Prehistory is a real gem if your ferry is canceled for weather) and had the excellent buffet when there were many guests and the truly superb breakfast plates when there were fewer guests. Truly a fine dining experience.

And the proprietors are just lovely. Clearly took great pride in their small and modern and comfortable hotel and its food. They were warm and welcoming and nice and gracious and helpful in every way. Just super and lovely people.
And, if you are on the road on your bike every day, you can have your clothes laundered--how wonderful!
I wish I could stay at Summer of Moonlight every single night--it is first rate in every possible way. If you are in Taitung, do yourself a favor and stay here. You will be very happy if you do.
