Hotel De Nice

The hotel was well-situated in the Marais district of Paris, near a Metro station and a 5 min walk from the Notre-Dame Cathedral. Plenty of shops, cabarets adjacent. It bordered a well-treed plaza. Our room (#18) had a small French balcony which looked down upon the green, leafy canopy. The room was quiet even with the plaza below bustling with activity. Breakfast was offered at 12 euros per person but we chose instead to eat every day in one of the local bistros. Entrance to the hotel reception was via a set of stairs from ground level, There was a small three person elevator to use as well. Staff were friendly and helpful. One drawback is that the hotel uses physical room keys instead of key cards (we lost our room key and had to pay a 20 euro lost key fee). The room itself was very small, with little space to spread open our suitcases. It also had the most garish wallpaper scheme which included the bathroom and closet doors. The bathroom was very small, with a very tight shower stall. There were a limited number of electrical outlets. A huge plus was a well-functioning wall mounted air conditioning system which was very efficient in cooling the room, an absolute necessity given exterior temperatures approached 40C. A great relief to walk into after sightseeing in sweltering heat

The hotel is in a wonderful location in Le Marais- and surrounded by streets of cafes & restaurants. The room we had was spacious and had charming decoration using beautiful wallpapers. Also, was quiet and had comfortable beds. The air conditioning was a life saver and we slept great. They let us store luggage the next day after check out which was much appreciated.

The property was centrally located and we liked the little neighborhood feelings with lots of bars and restaurants nearby. The rooms were a bit too little and did not reflect the description on expedia. The checkout was a bit rushed. They put pressure on us to leave before the promised check out time. Will not be returning or suggest it to anyone.

Location is great, nice staff. Super small bathroom, poor building, stinks old. Mattress not comfortable.poor sheets . Need major update

Run down and in sore need of upgrades. Great location and a/c worked but otherwise a not great experience. Their idea of security is to have the tiny elevator not work from the always-open ground floor. It’s dark and dingy. The cute wallpaper is faded and dusty. The rooms are tiny, no doubt common in Paris with hard to access outlets and poor lighting. The bathroom was so tiny you could not turn around in the shower. It’s really a pit but it’s in the Marais right above a very busy plaza. Location is terrific tho. Otherwise I’d looker harder for something else.

I don’t know how this place got the rating it got and I am not a complainer. Perhaps what some people might think is charming because of the faded wallpaper and antique pictures is also dilapidated and in need of a complete refurbishment. The beds were not the most comfortable, there are zero amenities in the room ( two outlets outbid the way and the bathrooms were not constructed for humans and also devoid of amenities. The tiniest bathroom and shower possible. And it’s about the size as the elevator, which only operated from the first floor as their idea of a security system ( otherwise the doors are wide open for everyone). Well the a/c did work but it was on some sort of a timer and shut off intermittently. The hallways were very dark and narrow. The hotel’s location is its only selling point - right at the entrance to the Marais but also next to some bars that can get very loudrowdy especially on weekends. Now I understand we were there in a heat wave, World Cup and pride weekend but Ben when it was cooler and no game and the disco a couple blocks away were quiet it is not a quiet neighborhood at night. During the day very fun and typically French. The staff was nice enough but what could they do?

So cute! Clean. Great neighborhood.
