Four stars would be more accurate for this hotel. Despite several disappointments, however, it's still a good value.
The hotel did't seem at all crowded. Yet I was given a room facing a nearby construction site making moderate-level constant pounding noises. I asked for a room change and was given a room on the other side of the hotel, which I believe was an upgrade because it had a great view of the river. It took too long for the room change to be made, and I'm surprised that the upgrade wasn't automatic when the hotel wasn't fully booked and there was construction noise that made working difficult and generally would significantly decrease the quality of a stay. I needed a plug converter and more water in the room. I received both but it was another long weight. This made the check-in process take an hour.
A few things in the room like chairs and tables showed damage and wear, but the room was clean. I was looking forward to swimming, and it took two tries for me to have a good experience at the pool. The first time I went in the late afternoon, and found I needed a cap to swim. Still, I walked around and found the shower area unclean and swimming classes going on, and they were loud. I decided to come back later. I returned at 9 pm with my cap and had a better experience. There were still lessons being given but few enough people that I enjoyed the pool.
Positives - the river view was excellent and I slept well. I also had a good massage.
