The room was very comfortable & the evening meal was excellent value. Staff very attentive. Upholstery throughout the hotel superior quality.

The first thing to comment on is how good the staff were. Helpful and friendly in every area. In other areas the experience was good but fell down slightly on detail. The room was cosy, but needed a bit of TLC. A bit of paint touching here and there. Dinner was good, but the sea bass was tiny and the lamb pie was parsimonious with the lamb. The sticky toffee pudding could have been warmer. The menu is not cheap. At breakfast ingredients were excellent but eggs cooked too long, tomatoes too little. Small things but the difference between good and great. Small things but the difference between good and great.

Great location for the town centre. The bedrooms were great. Parking on site was handy. Saturday nights are a bit noisy due to local night life, however the rest was fine.

We only stayed for one night, and upon arrival we discovered that there are some substantial building works adjacent to the hotel. This means that the hotel car park is limited to even fewer spaces. Upon arrive at the hotel we had to wait around 10 minutes for someone to check us in. Our room was on the first floor facing the buidling works. Please note that there is no lift in the hotel that we found, so this may impact you if you have mobility problems. It was a warm day, and the room was a lot warmer and even with the window open there was no way to cool the room down, no A/C or fan in the room. The room was small and somewhat cramped and the furniture had seen better days and needed to be replaced in all honesty. The bathroom was modern and clean and did have some nice smellies in there, however we discovered that there was a major leak under the sink, and this meant water flooded into the drawer in the unit and then onto the floor, we think that had been this way for a while. Sleep was erratic as we had to leave the window open to keep us cooler, but the noise late at night from the people leaving the night club down the road was so bad. I know the hotel can't be to blame for this but it did impact our sleep and therefore our stay. We did use the hotel restaurant and the food was good, but service was slow and we wait around 35 minutes for our main course. Would we stay again - probably not. Well not unless it had a good makeover.

The property was dog friendly. There were shops nearby plus a pub just across the road.

Our room was on the top floor. No lift so a few flights of stairs to get there. Room was small but adequate. Bed was comfortable. Breakfast was good. We dined in the restaurant as there wasn't a lot of choice nearby. Hotel was handy for what little Boston had to offer.
