Carolina Hotel

The location of Hotel Carolina is great. It is in the center of everything in downtown Athens. The staff was helpful and friendly. It is a more traditional hotel which has been updated.

Breakfast decent The HVAC, smelled of dirty feet, as if the filters have not been changed… ever I checked out the next day…. Lost my $$$ Never again ‘Cheap is cheap’

Room

The hotel was good but needs reconstruction and modernization.

The room was in good condition and clean, the staff was very polite and the breakfast was satisfactory.

The staff was above and beyond friendly. They are by the kindest hotel staff I’ve ever met and a great example of Greek hospitality. The breakfast was delicious with a lot of variety. Super convenient for my earlier mornings. The bedrooms were fair for the price and the balcony was an extremely nice view of the city.

Friendly staff, great location, functional facilities. A bit loud and the sofa bed was uncomfortable. Breakfast is basic but sufficient.

The room was clean but I knew when everyone in the hotel went to the bathroom. It sounded like it was raining. Also, I had an interior room that had a window that opened up onto a very narrow open area which I could smell cigarettes from my fellow guests who would blow their smoke out the window. Breakfast began at 7 AM and was pretty good with the usual assortment of breakfast food, including eggs of some kind and pork of some kind.

Average hotel in a busy, noisy street. Beds are comfortable but that’s the only positive. Breakfast is depressing. There is no real coffee, just instant coffee or drip from a boiler. The worst thing was the rude guy on reception. I booked on hotels.com which says there is a 24 hour shuttle available. It turns out there is no shuttle - they just mean they’ll book you a taxi. Which is fine - but when I tried to speak to the guy about this, he kept shouting over me and telling me I was wrong. I’ve genuinely never met anyone so rude in the hospitality sector. He had literally zero customer service skills. It all could have been handled politely instead of shouting at me (for a mistake they made).
