This property was a disappointment. We arrived and the code we were given did not work. A tour guide helped us w a completely different code. We were put in the Delaware room. The room is extremely dark, poorly lit, and don’t bother opening the drapes or shades as there are people sitting right outside your window on porch. My favorite is the tour groups, which congregate right outside the door to the room. We had to excuse ourselves to get through the groups each time. Even more fun…the group is literally outside the bathroom window. Often. The property itself is poorly maintained outside. It appears they take little pride in their property. Lastly, do not bother with the $18 sit down breakfast. I’ve had better in a cafeteria. Eggs & pancakes, tasteless, and cold. There looked like there were many other lovely places to stay in fabulous Gettysburg, so shop around!

We stayed in the New England Suite and overall enjoyed our stay. The staff was friendly and welcoming, and one staff member even carried a suitcase to our second-floor room. The suite was clean and comfortable, with two rooms, a cozy queen bed and twin bed, good A/C, a private balcony with rocking chairs, and a charming claw-foot tub (although the high step could be difficult for some guests).
Our biggest disappointment was the optional $18 per person breakfast. Both mornings were almost identical: fruit or yogurt with fruit, two small sausage links, an egg dish with peppers, spicy/salty frozen potatoes, and the same dry shoofly cake. The menu simply wasn't appealing to us, and even if it had been, we still don't feel it was worth $18 per person. The portions were small, the presentation was plain, and we were surprised that a bed and breakfast served nearly the exact same meal two days in a row. Since breakfast had to be reserved in advance, we couldn't cancel after the first morning. Another couple dining with us felt the same.
We also tried the hot tub. The staff member explained that the water had become too hot because of the summer weather and did her best to cool it down and skim out the bugs. However, it didn't appear to be well maintained. The water chemistry seemed off, and the cover could only be opened halfway, making it awkward to use.
The room, staff, and location were excellent, but the breakfast was a major letdown and not worth the additional cost.

Alabama Room in Wilty Buyilding
1st: We had a code to get into the outside door of the room but the door was already open. A key was suppose to be inside but was not. Could not figure out how to lock the door via code pad.
There is no staff on site, only a phone #. I called to get a recording that stated they were busy with other clients so you need to text and "hopefully" get a quick response. I did not text as by that time we were very annoyed and disappointed.
2nd: Even though we were aware that this property was Civil War era and expected a vintage room, the best I can discribe the room is "Shabby Chic" WITHOUT the "Chic".
3rd: We found the property not to our liking and my husband refused to stay and we left after 15 minutes.
4th: Every other B&B that we stayed at, we were offered a sit-down breakfast from ~7:00 to 9:30 a.m. Not at the Brickhouse Inn. You could have a Grab-and-Go bag or pay for a hot meal for $18 pp. If you opted for a hot $18 meal, it was only available at 9:30 a.m. which, if you had a tour scheduled or wanted to start your day by say 9:00 a.m., that was not feasible.
A staff member should be on site.

Return visitor to Brickhouse and it still doesn't disappoint. Close to everything, quiet when it needs to be. Breakfast super convenient for travelers up early. Can't wait to visit again.

Did not see any staff. Would be nice if they let us know about the ice machine. Breakfast should have included juice or milk self serve. Small trash can in dining area for the breakfast to go trash. Not a very special B&B

The inn was ok. Needs more of special touches that an inn has to offer. The staff was not around to help. I had some friends over to the inn and was very grateful they let all of us there for hours to enjoy each other’s company. My friends want to book the whole inn for bike weekend next year. They all liked the inn.
