Hilton Garden Inn Rome Colosseum was an average stay overall, and I expected better from the Hilton brand. While the hotel allowed a late checkout, which was appreciated, there were several drawbacks that affected the experience.
The location was not ideal, as it is set in a run-down market area with garbage disposal right outside. Although it is conveniently close to Manzoni station, the hotel name can be misleading—it is not really within easy walking distance of the Colosseum, which is around a 20–25 minute walk away.
The hotel appears to have been converted from a previous property, and remnants of the old style are still noticeable. Rooms were also a little too small, which made the stay less comfortable.
Service was inconsistent throughout the stay. Some staff members were friendly and helpful, while others seemed rude. It was also disappointing that basic forgotten amenities such as toothpaste or deodorant came at an extra charge of £5–£10, rather than being offered as a courtesy.
The elevators were also very slow, which added to the inconvenience.
The breakfast was quite good. Bacon, Waffles, Sausages, Scrambled Eggs, and lots of bakery items and more.
Overall, the stay was acceptable but unremarkable. There were some positives, but for the price and brand expectations, it fell short.
