Room was large but had a few issues. AC was very noisy and could not be turned off. Tv needed repairing. No tables left when we went down for breakfast. Breakfast was only fair.

Overall, our stay was acceptable, and while we did find a cockroach in the room, I recognize that can occasionally happen in a city hotel. That said, there were several shortcomings that impacted our experience. The hotel does not have an elevator, which wasn’t a deal-breaker but is something that should be disclosed before booking. There was no complimentary water in the room, the carpets appeared worn and in need of a thorough cleaning or replacement, and the breakfast area was poorly maintained, with dirty plates left on every table. Another frustration was the parking. It operates on a first-come, first-served basis, which would have been helpful to know before our arrival so we could plan accordingly. Most disappointing, however, was our interaction with the front desk. When we raised these concerns, the response was unapologetic and somewhat confrontational. A more understanding and customer-focused approach would have gone a long way toward improving our overall impression of the hotel.

This review has 2 components: The hotel review and Expedia’s own complicity through its errors and omissions as a travel agency. CHATEAU VERSAILLES: was given a room in the basement below ground level. The stairs and condition of the common areas was dirty and not worthy of an alleged 4 star rating. The room was moldy and smelled of musty air and bleach, peeling paint and old, scuffed furnishings. When I complained I was advised that this was the only room remaining and to stay or leave but no refund would be issued since it was booked on Expedia. The manager was stand offish and insensitive to the problem even after acknowledging the room had issues. We were then contacted after I complained to Expedia in writing that the accommodations were substandard and was offered a downgraded smaller room the 2nd day we were there. We declined and rode it out. In Paris, the French call rub down areas “Bidonvilles”. I suggest they rename this place ‘Chateau Bidonville’—much more worthy of its condition. EXPEDIA: I have been using Expedia for at least 15 years and travel often enough to earn Platinum tier status. The platinum tier is nothing more than a marketing ploy as no property has ever offered an upgrade or any special VIP service. Furthermore, Expedia provided little or no customer service when advised of the true condition of the property. Expedia did no vetting of same and upon review, saw that the “last room” available ploy was used on previous Expedia customers here.

You can’t beat the location, very friendly staff, price point and included breakfast. Although the room served its purpose of two beds and a bathroom, there was much to be desired. The pictures on the website (or the ones posted on Expedia) are not actually of the average room. Our average room had a mini fridge that appeared to be from the 90s. The walls had so many dents, and missing drywall, having never been attended to, the counter in the bathroom and tile in the shower had major cracks. Many of the outlets scattered throughout the room didn’t work or could barely hold a two prong device in place. Bathroom light switch faceplate was cracked (such an easy, cheap fix). There was a random telephone jack in our bathroom, again could have been replaced with a solid faceplate. One morning I woke up to a caterpillar crawling down the door frame of the bathroom (keep in mind there are no windows). Overall, The bathroom was really in bad shape. Again, it is absolutely nothing to do with the staff because they were fabulous and can only work with what they have and/or the budget by the owner of the hotel. I would give this place a 2.5/5 at best.

This was our second time staying at this property due to the location and price. It’s not fancy, but it’s a unique property and decent value. We did have an issue with our room on the first night as we were placed in room 206 which is on the first floor right next to the lobby. We were unable to sleep at all due to the constant noise of people coming and going. We talked to the staff at the front desk the next morning and they moved us to a different room, which we greatly appreciated. Rooms 206 and 223 should not be used for guests unless they are offered a significant discount! Those 2 rooms are not comparable to anything else on the property and unreasonable to expect anyone to sleep in them for the same price as other rooms. Besides that, it is a good hotel that could use some updates but overall a good stay.

The room had a musky smell like an old carpet. I notified the front desk staff multiple times who assured management was aware and maintenance would look at it, but the issue wasn’t resolved. I stayed there for two days.

Charmless. Old. Needs help. The bright stop is the staff is lovely and friendly. Location is close to metro and a several diverse dinning options. Best we’re comfortable and clean but overall the hotel is tired. No lobby to sit in, breakfast is meh but free. For the price you can do better. Also stairs only! If you have mobility issues choose differently.

The room was clean! It was beautiful!! It felt like we were living in a manor! Beautiful and periodic interiors. But since its an old building its not very stroller friendly or accessible friendly! The building does not have elevators. It does not have free parking( valet parking is available but costs 40 cad a day). It didn't have a kettle or oven in the room, however there is a common oven to use and kettle is given upon request. If you are travelling without kid and dont mind the small amenities missing, but loveeeee European architecture and old buildings this is the place for you!! But if you have babies think twice.
