The biggest selling point of The Dominick is the size of the rooms. By New York City standards, they are absolutely enormous. The bathroom was huge as well, and the amount of space would be fantastic for a couple who does not want to feel on top of each other, a family traveling with children, or really anyone who values having room to spread out.
Unfortunately, the room itself felt extremely dated and in serious need of investment. Part of the baseboard was coming away from the wall, the furniture was noticeably nicked and worn, and the entire space felt like it had not been refreshed in a very long time. Even the television in the bathroom was so old that it was almost charming—I genuinely felt like I had been transported back in time.
This hotel could be an amazing option with some meaningful renovations because the room size and overall bones are fantastic. Right now, though, the condition of the room does not match what I would expect at this price point.
The rooftop pool also sounded much better in theory than it was in practice. It was extremely crowded, and the service was terrible. The food and drink prices were very high, which I would have been willing to pay, but we could barely get anyone to serve us.
There is a lot of potential here, especially because spacious hotel rooms are so rare in Manhattan, but between the dated condition and the poor rooftop service, I do not think I would stay again.
