The Bookhouse is a wonderful concept! Prioritizing books, making them accessible everywhere, is delightful. There were adventurous and playful touches, including the secret hide-away on the first floor, behind a bookcase. Housing a hotel in a very old house is another terrific choice. The restoration process is clearly in progress; it's understandable that it's a long-term project. Drawbacks were largely fixable. Whatever scent is used in the house, apparent on the threshold, overwhelming inside, is objectionable and for me, impossible to ignore. The room itself was attractive. However, the mattress was too soft, which was hard on the back. It was clean almost everywhere, but somehow an ancient take-out box with mummified food had been left on the bathroom windowsill, behind the curtains.

Adorable boutique hotel to stay at. Only issues were windows could not be opened and it was a warm weekend and lock box was a little difficult to get into. Other than that we loved it.

Quiet character...Since 1860 character. We stayed Sunday through Thursday amd no continental breakfast was available these days.

The setting of the hotel was beautiful along the stream. It felt private and safe even though it was within walking distance of West Chester central with restaurants, shops and great coffee and easy driving distance of Longwood Gardens and Valley Forge. Appreciated all the books rather than nicknacks. If I hadn’t had so much planned and the weather was too nice to be inside, I would have read all day.

Lovely hotel for a quick getaway, close to WCU and lots of restaurants, shops, etc.

The most comfortable bed I’ve ever slept in and all the books everywhere were amazing! Such an awesome experience can’t wait to go back!

Absolutely amazing experience. The entire building was clean. Clear directions and the felt safe in the hotel.
