Qué esperar

Discover Yangon's colonial and spiritual heritage on a private half day tour around some of the most iconic landmarks downtown. A shuttle will pick you up from your hotel bright and early and you'll be off to explore a old capital that boasts of a rich mix of British architecture, high rise buildings, and Buddhist temples scattered around the city. Together with your English speaking tour guide, you'll arrive at your first stop of the day - the Sule Pagoda, located right at the center of Yangon, where Burmese politics, geography, and ideology come together. Just a few steps away from the pagoda is Yangon City Hall and your next stop in the tour. One of Yangon's many aging buildings, the City Hall is an impressive Burmese structure with traditional tiered roofs. You'll also make a quick stop across the street of City Hall to visit the repurposed building of Rowe & Co, one of the most stylish British department stores in Asia before the war, which now houses a local private bank. Your tour continues at the Central Telegraph Office and the High Court Buildings, two structures included in Yangon's City Heritage List, as well as a visit to Rander House - an imposing five storey building of art deco design - and Sofaer & Co, once a renowned center of commerce. Throughout your sightseeing discovery, you'll learn about the roles of the different buildings in the prime and get to know the purpose they serve to this day. The last stop of the tour will take you to the Shwedagon Pagoda, also known as the Golden Pagoda and undeniably the most famous site in Yangon. Towering 99 meters high with a diamond studded spire, the golden plated pagoda can be seen from much of the city and is considered the most sacred Buddhist site in the city. By around noon, you're sure to have had your fill of Yangon's heritage sites and a handful of photos to take home as souvenirs! Take a shuttle back to your hotel in the city for a well deserved rest, or to continue the rest of your own itinerary for the day.
