Singaportal in Sydney

It was a little underwhelming! There wasn’t a lot of food and the area itself wasn’t very big! Disappointed there was only 1 tree as expected more. The DJ made the event bearable!

Not what I imagined it to be but loved the food and crowd tho it was kinda hard to find a vacant table and chairs. Also, went for KOI’s Garden by the Bay dessert but it was already sold out.

Singaportal very nice. The food was average. The Dj session was ok. The good thing was that they will give you the portal points. It was near to circular quay station

Pretty much the Fyre Festival of Sydney, this event bombed harder than Heroshima circa 1945. The gap between advertising and delivery verged on parody here - one of the other reviewers said it best when they said the displays were like a Kmart setup. The angst I felt when walking into this event and realising 'oh, this is it?' quite literally made me contemplate leaving Sydney for good. Couldn't choose to have non-burnt chicken skewers because 'sorry I have no control over what they serve', Singapore Slings from the long bar were all pre-prepared in large jugs and hilariously shaken up in a cocktail shaker with ice for dramatic effect before being served with Ice anyway and the Laksa by 'Alex Lee Kitchen' quite literally was a simplified version of their best selling Laksa with approximately half the ingredients you'd get if you just ordered it at their restaurant in Haymarket. Desserts were tasy but overpriced and to top it all off, only one of the vendors was able to do the 'portalpoints' promised for purchases at the event - the others, even the Long Bar, all shrugged and said they didn't know how to do it or weren't set up for it. Oh and the giveaway where the guy proposed to his partner was most definitely rigged. However, all the staff were exceptionally nice, enthusiastic and passionate, and in the end through sheer determination, fuelled by spite and annoyance at this lacklustre event, I did ultimately have a good time by absolutely massacring Singapore Slings, proverbially 'getting messy' and hitting the dancefloor.

If I could rate it less I would. Rigged competition to win a trip, discriminating against those with mobility issues and completely excluding them/us from competing fairly in what should have been a game of skill by 25 words or less response.

Fun small event, not too crowded and good food and drinks.
